The Caesar Files

In 2014 a collection of over 50,000 photos were smuggled out of Syria by a military defector codenamed "Caesar". These photos documented the systematic torture and killings of thousands of detainees by the Assad regime, and provided key evidence of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Syria. Independent Diplomat organised showings of these image at the European Parliament, UK Parliament and at the Swiss Press Club during the Geneva III Peace Talks.

A ‘No-Bomb Zone’ Explainer Video

By 2016 the Syrian government, backed by Russia and Iran, had regained key territories. ISIS controlled large parts of eastern Syria, including Raqqa. The war had displaced millions of Syrians, leading to a massive refugee crisis and widespread suffering.

ID, working with the Syrian opposition pushed for the international community to enforce a ‘No-Bomb Zone’.

This video explains this concept how it might have helped end the conflict and brought humanitarian relief to the Syrian population.
