The Rohingya
Following mass atrocities by the Burmese military in 2017, nearly 700,000 Rohingya refugees fled to Bangladesh, creating a massive humanitarian emergency. Independent Diplomat (ID) provided Rohingya and Burmese organizations urgent diplomatic support to respond to the crisis.

In 2018 members of ID went to speak with Rohingya activists in Coxs’ Bazaar as the impending monsoon season threatened the safety of Rohingya refugees.
In this video camp spokesperson Mohib Ullah stressed the urgent need for assistance from the international community to protect the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
UK Presidency of the UN Security Council
During the 2018 UK Presidency of the UN Security Council, ID arranged for Rohingya refugees in the Kutupalong Refugee Camp in Bangladesh to submit questions to the UK Ambassador Karen Pierce concerning the international community’s plans to repatriate the Rohingya back to Myanmar.
