Mansour al-Omari is a Syrian journalist and human rights defender. He was arrested on February 16, 2012 and was transferred to various regime prisons where he was regularly tortured.

Mansour came out of prison with lists of names of his fellow prisoners copied on scraps of tissue, written with a mixture of blood and rust.

"It is my job, my task, to document the names."

Mazen al-Hamada was a Syrian activist. He was imprisoned and tortured for more than a year and a half for participating in anti-government protests. After being exiled from Syria, he publicly testified to the abuse he suffered raising awareness about the crimes of the Assad regime.

In 2020, disillusioned by the lack of action on Syria, Mazen returned to Syria.

Mazen’s body was found in Sednaya Prison on December 9, 2024 during the fall of the Assad regime. It bore signs of horrific torture.
